So recently, a classmate of mine got broken up with. He swore he was going to marry the girl.
He met her at his cousin's wedding.
From a distance.
She was a bridesmaid.
He thought she was beautiful.
"Who dat be?" He inquired about her to his newly wed cousin.
(I'm jk. "Who is that girl?" is more accurate.)
Then a few weeks later, after being forced by his friends to make an online dating profile, he met her again.
On that website.
He flew up to norcal to meet her.
They hit it off.
They were perfect for each other.
They were in love.
I mean.. it was apparent on facebook.
I sometimes wanted to punch the screen because it was just too much.
But now, they are over.
She claims she doesn't love him no mo'.
He is utterly devastated.
It was very unexpected.
He even went ring shopping last week.
(Why am I writing this like a poem.)
POINT IS.
Breakups suck. And I can't feel any more empathy than I already do for this guy because I experienced unexpected breakups both times I was in one (Actually, 2304985 times during the first one. What a great story to tell my future kids). I tell myself and others that I'd rather be the one being broken up with than to break up with someone, but honestly. HONESTLY. It effing sucks... Especially when it's not because of anything you did. Your whole world is destroyed by this one STEWPID person, and for the sake of not losing that little ounce of pride you have left, you have to force a smile or a laugh in public. You have to carry on with life and look so together, when you're so broken up inside. (Wow, did I really just plagiarize a Kelly Clarkson song just now...)
Luckily, that classmate of mine is a precious child and follower of Christ and I believe he is dealing with it in a pretty godly way. He is still rejoicing in the Lord. But, he's still human. He expressed how hard it was to go to class earlier today.
Well what I would like to tell him as of this moment is this:
It will get better. God's ways are higher than yours, and they are perfect. He's putting you through this for a reason -- because He loves you. This will make sense eventually. IT WILL! So center your eyes on the cross and He will give you peace. And maybe if it is in God's will, things will work out, but don't focus on that. Focus on your Creator and His sacrificial love for you. Remember that He is the only one you can fully trust -- that even the people who (claim to) love you will at some point in your life disappoint you, but He never can and He never will. Lastly, give thanks. Always.
PEACE OUT. I'm so screwed for my tests.
(No but seriously, if a guy breaks up with me ONE MO' TIME............)
